FC Cincinnati vs Nashville Betting Preview

By Ernie Bibby, Thursday, July 13, 2023 11:20 pm

Table toppers FC Cincinnati got back to winning ways on Wednesday night and they’ll be looking to continue that run of form when they host Nashville this weekend. The match gets underway at 12:30am UK Time.

FC Cincinnati

By their own high standards, FC Cincinnati’s form has dipped in recent weeks. It’s no surprise that the slight drop off in results has coincided with the CONCACAF Gold Cup which has temporarily taken both Matt Miazga and Brandon Vazquez away from the club. Although the USMNT have now been eliminated from the tournament, the pivotal pair will not be returning to the fold ahead of this weekend’s clash.

Despite the so-called ‘blip’, the Orange and Blue Garys have still only lost one of their last 14 matches and they have dropped just two points at home all season. New England Revolution were the first team to leave this stadium with a point and having conceded just seven home goals all season, Cinci will be feeling confident of normal service resuming on Saturday.

Recently signed DP Aaron Boupendza is yet to make his debut for the club, however, he could be unleashed in this weekend’s fixture.

Cincinnati have been praised for their attitude and willingness this season and they rarely give up. They’ve taken four points from their last two matches despite being losing at HT in both contests.

Nashville

Nashville have enjoyed a tremendous season so far, however, they will be disappointed with their midweek loss at home to Philadelphia Union. It was a messy contest in which the hosts gave away two penalties and had two players dismissed. As a consequence, both Daniel Lovitz and Shaq Moore will both miss this weekend’s tough trip to Cincinnati.

Although they rallied late on, Nashville couldn’t find a way through and they have now failed to score in four of their last five outings. They haven’t been as poor as the results have suggested, however, they desperately need to find their spark in the final third and a key addition or two could potentially change their fortunes.

Hany Mukhtar has enjoyed yet another productive season and already has 13 goals to his name. However, with a reported offer from Saudi Arabia coming in for the striker, he may potentially have his head turned by a move to Asia.

Nashville have failed to win any of their last four away games despite facing struggling Toronto and inconsistent Chicago Fire during that sequence.

Head to Head

This is the sixth meeting between these two sides. FC Cincinnati were victorious in their previous meeting (1-0) which took place at the end of March.

The five previous meetings between these sides have been very entertaining. Nashville won 6-3 at the end of October 2021 and the pair also played out a 2-2 draw earlier in the campaign.

Key Betting Stats

  • 11 of Cincinnati’s 14 victories have been by a single goal margin
  • The hosts have conceded just seven times in their first 11 home matches
  • Cincinnati have conceded in each of their last four games, shipping eight goals during that sequence. They conceded just twice in the previous five.
  • The hosts tend to keep things tight in the second half. They’ve conceded just 12% of their goals in the final 30 minutes.
  • Nashville have failed to score in 45% of their away matches
  • The visitors have scored just once across their last four away games
  • Hany Mukhtar has registered 13 goals and 7 assists so far this season. No other player has scored more than four for Nashville.

Match Prediction

Nashville has hit a bit of a bump in the road. Although they are still creating chances, they aren’t able to stick them away with the same regularity and Hany Mukhtar’s lean spell has coincided with rumours of an offer coming in from Saudi Arabia. Cincinnati were back to their best in midweek and should take plenty of confidence from that victory. Another tight win is expected.
